Rudy and Marilyn Quijas opened the first Rudy’s Tacos in Davenport, Iowa, in 1973. Rudy’s mother, Grandma Mary Louise, trained the original staff using her own unwritten recipes—family dishes passed down through generation.

Their authentic food, hard work, and warm hospitality quickly earned them a loyal customer base throughout the Quad Cities. Within ten years, Rudy’s had expanded to all corners of the Quad Cities and into neighboring towns. Rudy became the face of the brand, known for befriending all he met and his generosity toward local sports teams and charities. Meanwhile, Marilyn managed the kitchens and oversaw multiple restaurants, all while raising four children, who would eventually carry on the Rudy’s legacy as the next generation of operators.

Today, Rudy’s Tacos has grown to 11 locations throughout Iowa and Illinois. We remain family-owned and operated, with a focus on consistency, tradition, and strong community es.
